Summary

Fans of Girl, Interrupted, Thirteen Reasons Why, and All the Bright Places will love the New York Times bestselling novel Girl in Pieces

"A haunting, beautiful, and necessary book that will stay with you long after you've read the last page。"--Nicola Yoon, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything

Charlotte Davis is in pieces。 At seventeen she's already lost more than most people do in a lifetime。 But she's learned how to forget。 The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm。 You don't have to think about your father and the river。 Your best friend, who is gone forever。 Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you。
Every new scar hardens Charlie's heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much。 It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge。
A deeply moving portrait of a girl in a world that owes her nothing, and has taken so much, and the journey she undergoes to put herself back together。 Kathleen Glasgow's debut is heartbreakingly real and unflinchingly honest。 It's a story you won't be able to look away from。

" Girl, Interrupted meets Speak "--Refinery29。com

"One of the most affecting novels we have read。"--Goop。com

"Breathtaking and beautifully written。"--Bustle

"Intimate and gritty。"-- The Irish Times

Girl in Pieces is a realistic fiction coming of age novel that explores many real world themes such as addiction, recovery, trauma and many others。 This book is very real and shows real life struggles that teenagers go through。 The book is written from Charlie's perspective and written in a very unique style that uses a lot of different techniques such as imagery, metaphors and many others。 I would definitely recommend reading this book。 Girl in Pieces is a realistic fiction coming of age novel that explores many real world themes such as addiction, recovery, trauma and many others。 This book is very real and shows real life struggles that teenagers go through。 The book is written from Charlie's perspective and written in a very unique style that uses a lot of different techniques such as imagery, metaphors and many others。 I would definitely recommend reading this book。 。。。more

No one to tell how you feel? You spent your nights crying alone in dark, I've cried too much while reading this。 Her silence was the most powerful and strongest thing BUT Ending wasn't good at all, it didn't went the way i thought, I thought it must be like "Then she live happy" or "She continue 4 Stars I Guess I couldn't let myself stop turning pages and let myself lost into Charles Davis , that poor girl lost her happiness in early age, she lost everyone , Imagine you dont have anyone to talk? If I could describe this book in 3 words they would be “major trigger warning。” 3。5 stars, a really interesting story about a sad girl who wants to be loved, but also doesn’t want to be alive。 Overall good plot, heavy triggers。

this book is kind of a controversial one。 i read it when i was in a slump - did trigger a few things but overall it was good reading through Charlie’s emotions and everything that she felt。 i could relate to some things and that was good。 i could say a lot about the romanticisation of statutory rape that occurred whilst the protagonist was dating Ryley。 i hated how they’re rs continued and how it ended as well, but at some points when Ryley continuously tries to take care of her is beyond sweet this book is kind of a controversial one。 i read it when i was in a slump - did trigger a few things but overall it was good reading through Charlie’s emotions and everything that she felt。 i could relate to some things and that was good。 i could say a lot about the romanticisation of statutory rape that occurred whilst the protagonist was dating Ryley。 i hated how they’re rs continued and how it ended as well, but at some points when Ryley continuously tries to take care of her is beyond sweet BUT still。 i believe that the concept of this book can be for a purpose of showing people an open minded way of looking at the suffering of some individuals。 some things are demonstrated really well and it drew me in to topics i only just discovered whilst reading the book。could’ve been a lot more better if there was more character development inclusion within。 。。。more

There’s so much I feel like I want to say about this book。 I need to process it。 In the meantime, if you start it and aren’t sure you want to keep going … keep going! It took awhile to grab me。 The way it is written in the beginning threw me a little (though I think I understand why it was written that way)。 Before you know it, you won’t want to put it down。 I am very glad I kept reading。

Will never forget about this book, truly a masterpiece of literature。 - Bry <3 。。。more

Idk I do relate to Riley more than Charlotte。 I mean I do relate to her too but Riley truly touched my heart。 The way he was disappointing everyone and he thought he was always being a failure but people adored him (crowd people, his fans, etc)。 And I don't know I just felt closer to his character。 And my toxic ass cried when HE sang that song that HE wrote for her, at the end of the book on THE stage in front of hundreds of people because ALL BECAUSE I thought that she should have forgiven him。 My toxic ass relates more to the side character that hurted people mentally and was a pain in the ass, a manipulative chef than the main character the one who got hurted by the side character。 So yeah, in conclusion I'd say that I loved Riley's character more than Charlie's。 This is probably an unpopular opinion, cause he almost hit her and that gave me Ryle vibes but I don't know。。。 my toxic dump ass makes me love him 👶🏼🔫 。。。more

I don’t think I’ve ever seen self harm portrayed in a more realistic and true light。 Not once is the absolute horror and trauma of it downplayed。Charlie is the representation of an extraordinary number of many teenage girls within a modern society , as described in the author note, who suffer with this addiction。 Charlie is quiet, shy and so interesting。 Her struggle between her tender kit and moving past what happened to her is portrayed so beautifully and realistic。 I think if you are someone I don’t think I’ve ever seen self harm portrayed in a more realistic and true light。 Not once is the absolute horror and trauma of it downplayed。Charlie is the representation of an extraordinary number of many teenage girls within a modern society , as described in the author note, who suffer with this addiction。 Charlie is quiet, shy and so interesting。 Her struggle between her tender kit and moving past what happened to her is portrayed so beautifully and realistic。 I think if you are someone who has experienced self harm personally this will provide great comfort to you and shows sh in a non glorified light。 But ,also, if you know someone who has self harmed or does self harm, this book is an incredible insight into why they may do this and i think is an incredibly important and educational book。 Overall, the writing style is honestly gorgeous and i’m in love with charlie and her story。 It’s definitely hard hitting, but in all the ways it needs to be to show the gravity of this addiction and show just how it is indeed a form of addiction。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 。。。more
